Go Away Monster!!

There’s a monster in my house. It needs to exit pronto.

For some bizarre reason, unknown to us, Jamayia has practically stopped sleeping. Both during the night and nap time. If someone knows why, please tell me so that I can fix it!

She’s always been a great sleeper. She’s been sleeping through the night for the longest time now, at least 10-12 hrs per night. Nap time runs anywhere from 2-4 hrs. Tuesday night was normal and she napped on Wednesday. But Wednesday night? She probably only slept a wee bit, and then was up for the rest. We changed her, and she asked for her customary stall tactics: food & water. (She got the water, but not the food). Finally Jonathon opted to lie on the bed with her and sleep so that the rest of us to sleep too. Thankfully, Jhyelle sleeps through this all. I’m also able to sleep some because I know she’s in good hands with her daddy.

Funny story: Early Thursday morning, I took Jamayia downstairs for some water, and saw that it was 3:20 a.m. Early Friday morning, when she was again begging for water, I took her downstairs. Guess what time the clock said? Yeppers–3:20 a.m. I felt as though I were stuck in a twisted movie, for a split second.

Oh how this girl needs to get back to her old habits.

Day 7: Chocolate Chip Cookies

I started off having no title today. The creativity juices are only trickling right now.

So, when you don’t have much to say, do a play by play of your day. And believe me—I did not intend to do any puns of any kind here either!

What was up with today? Not much. Baby woke up too early—at 7:30 am today, and then proceeded to stay up. Uggg, which meant that I had to get up too. Can’t let the baby roam around the house unattended now. But she was still mega tired. And she was still quite a bit whiny and clingy. I’m pretty sure her tummy was annoying her. She was gassy all through the night. In fact, Jono & I lay in bed laughing at 4:30 am because she was just passing gas for a few seconds. Sorry, but it was quite funny. Especially considering that she sits up to pass her gas, then lies down again! But yes, after playing alone for a few minutes this morning, she filled that diaper quite stinkily well and she was back to her old self. Yay!! We then cuddled up on the futon and watched a Veggie Tales Silly Songs DVD. After a quick snack, she went back to her bed for a nap. Yay!! Mommy-time. Although, this Mommy was kinda worried about whether or not she’d nap later on in the day. She did and I was able to get some of my stuff done.

Now, off to make cookies and wash dishes…

Oh, and found a title…

Got Any Sleep Tips, Uncle Sherwin??

This post is dedicated to my dear brother, Sherwin. He wanted a shout out–here ya go!

Jamayia loves to fight sleep. Why, is beyond me. But, this kid only sleeps best when we’re at home and she can lie in her crib. When we have to go out during nap time, she punishes herself and stays awake. She also remains her good-natured, playful & laughingly cute self…but a very tired girl nonetheless.

Today, we went to a funeral. It was at 12:30pm, which is right around the time Jamayia should’ve been going down for a nap. I figured that the drive out to the funeral home was long enough–she’s catch a quick snooze in the car. No dice! Upon arriving at the funeral, I stuck the baby in the Cuddly Wrap, knowing she’d be good for a nap. Again, no dice. Good think I don’t gamble. The service was simple and I stayed for a few minutes of the reception. We settled in for the drive home, with me hoping she’d fall asleep within a few minutes. All together now–no dice! She finally fell asleep when we were just a few short minutes away from home, and woke up when I took her out of the car. I did manage to get her napping once her crib was in site though.

Compare that to Uncle Sherwy. This guy can sleep through just about anything. In fact, once, when we were younger (to be fair, I’ve gotta mention that he was about 12 yrs old at the time), he slept through a break in at our home. He often sleeps though his ringing celly & alarm clock. Like today. He was supposed to meet me. I called him to offer a ride, but didn’t get an answer. I sent a txt msg, again, no answer. I finally got him when I was 5 minutes away from my destination. “Are you coming?” I asked him. “Oh, let me call Greg for a ride” was his reponse. Ironically, Greg also overslept and neither of them made it.

So, Uncle Sherwy, can you please give your dear niece some tips on how to sleep? What’s the secret?
