Mission Accomplished!

I’m done my PhysioFit Mom classes! It is a great way to kick off an exercise routine. From here on in, I can easily maintain my own routine. The mall is open early for walking…so I can drag myself down there for an hour-long stroll either early (or late), any day of the week, for the grand low price of f-r-e-e. I’ve got some elastic tubing at home so that I can do the resistance/strength exercises with and of course, the ab workouts. Yes, maintenance is looking quite possible.

Me, non-athletic me, completed an exercise class.

And I’ve never missed a class.

Wow.

PhysioFit Mom

Yes, it’s true–I’m taking an exercise class. I saw this ad on the St. Vital Mall website last Sunday:

Physiofit Mom: From Belly to Baby & Beyond
Mondays & Wednesdays

Stroller Fitness: A great way for Mom’s to be active and meet new friends while enjoying extra bonding time with baby. An hour packed with fun for baby and excercise for you! (for children 6 wks. to 4 yrs.- double
strollers welcome- first class free!)

Includes: 60 minute excercise session with circuit training combining
cardio and total body toning, & focused time on regaining abdominal and
pelvic floor strength.

Classes: Mondays & Wednesday’s 8:50- 9:50
*meet in the Food Hall next to Tim Horton outside Family Room*

Winter Session – starts January 22, 2007
1xweek for 6 classes = $65
2xweek for 12 classes = $110

Note that the class was starting in less than 24 hrs from the time that I first saw this ad.

My next dilemma–clothes. Can’t take an exercise class in jeans or pantsuits, now can we?? So, we had to go shopping (don’t you love when shopping becomes an obligation?!) Thankfully, there were sales happening and I did find some workout pants–yeah!

Monday morning, I awoke and got dressed. Jamayia woke up at a decent time and we actually reached the mall ontime. I was surprised at how bustling things were. I forgot that the mall is open early for mall walkers. I was already struggling with the concept of working out with complete strangers–I’m an extremely shy person. (Can you tell I absolutely detested Phys Ed classes growing up??) So now I was trying not to panic at the thought of doing this class in front of a ton of eyes. Did I mention yet my bigger fear of being the most unfit and uncoordinated person in the entire class? But I tried to look at the positives–a chance to get out the house; a chance to meet new people; a chance to get in shape.

I’m happy to report that I did survive the first two classes. There were 2 other moms along with me, and the instructor. They started off things pretty easy–very low impact for the first class. I’m just praying for strength & endurance for the next 5 weeks. Unfortunately for me, the other 2 are in great shape–they even worked out during their pregnancies! Their babies are 6 wks & 10 wks old.

I’ll be sure to keep you posted on this exercising venture.

Oh, and the best news of the week– I can try and see if my health insurance will cover this class, as it is a form of physiotherapy. Yeah for savings!!!
