Wanted: New Pad For Change Table

As our potty training progresses, we’ve come to an interesting need:  we need a new pad for our change table.  What happened to our old one?  Well, it was slowly tearing apart.  But then yesterday, we had a lovely potty fail and well, it went straight in the garbage after that.

What had happened was…  Yesterday morning, we went to change out of pjs and into clothes.  Jamayia undressed herself, and was holding her pull-up in her hand.  (She fully knows how to put it on too!).  So, I thought she’d just dress herself when ready.  As I’m in the hallway, gathering dirty laundry, I hear the sound of liquid splatting.  I run back to the room, as she looks as me and tells me “Mommy, I have to go potty”.

I try hard not to yell or flip out.  All the potty training suggestments are clear on this–do not make the child feel like a failure when there are accidents.  Lucky for her, I succeeded, even though I was disturbed at now having to sanitize everything that had been touch by urine.  I cleaned her up, put on the pull-up and explained, yet again, that we go pee in the green potty or toilet.  Not in our clothes, not in our pants, and not on the change table.

I’m happy to report that we’ve had much better success today.  2 hits in the potty and no fails!!!

Once at home training is down, we can work on our outside of home training.

Anyone know where to get a good change pad cheap at a low price point?

Happy First Birthday, Jamayia!

I went in to wish her good morning & happy birthday and she greeted me with a kiss

I figured I needed to do something special, rather than just roam the mall. Today was her day–let’s head to the zoo. First shock of all–she kept the hat on the entire time we were there! Anyone who knows Jamayia knows she h-a-t-e-s wearing a hat. Hmmm, must be no coincidence that the word “hate” starts with the word “hat”. She enjoyed the sun, the heat and the cool mosquito repellant (hence the oil in the pic). She loves staring up at the Winnie the Pooh statue and wouldn’t even look at the camera.

The we headed home in hopes of a much deserved & much needed nap. No dice for me! So, instead we headed to Wal-Mart on a quick run and back home. Then Mommy set up for the extrememly mini-party. The real party is on Sunday, but you’ve gotta do something on the actual birth date itself. After all, you only turn 1 once.

The very tired Jamayia did well, acting like the little princess she is. She was all smiles at one point.

She wasn’t a big fan of the whole candle thing. I’m sure that’ll change in a few years. Mind you, she did enjoy seeing the smoke after the candle was blown out. Actually, she was trying her best to catch the smoke.
Wow, that year sure flew by. Hard to believe that it was only 1 year ago that I was in a loonnnngggggggg labour, anticipating the arrival of a little baby. Here’s to many more, my darling!
Yes, my loyal reader fans, there will be pics coming from Sunday!

These Feet Were Made For Walking…

Yes, folks, we have a walker in our midst. For the past few weeks, she’s been walking along furniture, wobbling and bobbing as she goes. Then her little legs gradually got stronger and stronger. Everytime we’d try to hold her hands and get her to walk though, she’d just fall and prefer to crawl.

Well, this morning, she wanted off my lap while I was on the computer. So, I put her down, and she started stepping out while I was still holding her hands. So, I got up, and she kept putting one foot in front of the other…and another step, and another… Soon, we were across the room.

My baby’s growing up. I was so amazed and pleasantly stunned, that I had to tell someone. I called Daddy. I could just hear the smile in his voice. All he could say though was “It’s over now…it’s over now…it’s over now…”

Now to work on tightening the invisible leash…
