Cravings…Yummm!!

Well, my journey with food has definitely been fun thus far this pregnancy. Each craving seems to last for only about 3 weeks. Here’s a brief fun down on my ever-changing must-haves:

It was chicken taco salads for the first few weeks after I learned about my pregnancy. They could only come from one place for me Taco Time. Topped with ranch dressing & no cheese–fantastic.

A few weeks later, it was pizza. Topped with mushrooms & onions & very light on the cheese. (I’m lactose intolerant). Surprisingly, the cheese never made me feel ill. Yeah!!! So I’ve been taking full advantage of that.

A few weeks later, it was tortilla chips with guacamole & salsa. Again, yum! It was definitely good times.

A few short weeks after that, it was ketchup chips. But they could only be from Old Dutch. I had tried Pringles version of ketchup–eww! Never again!

Now we’ve come to the present. It’s been hot wings from Chicken Delight, complete with their hot sauce. And for dessert, the Dare marshmallow strawberry candies !!

I must also add that Jonathon has been enjoying himself immensely and fully supporting my cravings! Nothing makes me smile more than a satisfied, pregnant tummy.

Week 19

Wifey has been gently ‘encouraging’ me to put entries in the blog, so I will do so…

It was Valentine’s Day and I received quite a gift – the first pics of my child via the ultrasound. It is quite the cool thing to see. Just to see the little one moving around in there playing peek-a-boo – TOO CUTE!

From Daddy’s point of view, it’s good to see. It makes everything feel more real. I now see that I do have a child that will be depending on me. Mommy gets to feel everything, but it’s nice to see what’s going on in there. One of the pictures from the ultrasound is of the spine. The whole thing is developed – all in a child that weighs 10oz. Seeing the little heart beat, the little feet and legs – simply amazing!

These people really like to suck money out of you. Paid $25 for ultrasound pics – and that’s half price compared to what the other hospital charges. Thank you Seven Oaks hospital. Weddings, funerals, and babies – these events in life you always pay the price….but I digress….

The ultrasound technician was quite excited. It’s like she couldn’t stop taking pictures. I was thinking ‘this isn’t even your child – it’s ours’! Baby is growing at a normal rate and looking healthy.

I just looked at the pictures again, and I don’t know what to say. It’s too cool. Too cool.

Week 18

Things are slowly coming together as the weeks pass by.

  • Our list of names is growing
  • the Grandparents have offered to buy the crib (thank you!!!)
  • We’re getting ideas together for the room
  • We’ve decided on what name brand of infant car seat to use

Oh…and let’s not forget the biggie–the belly is slowly getting rounder and more firm. I believe I’m starting to feel some faint movements & flutters. Definitely very exciting!

In other news, there’s a Baby Show happening this weekend, Feb 11 & 12. It’s supposed to have a format similar to the Wedding Show, which is a popular annual event here in the city. We just may check it out.
